Rizespor camiasının yetiştirdiği en yetenekli futbolcudan, Rizenin sevilen arzuhalcilerinden, şaka ve nükteleriyle tanınan namı değer “Ayvazaga” Recep Ali Ayvaz’in ölümü Rize’de büyük üzüntüye yol açtı
Ey gidinin Ayvazaga’si Rize Anafartalar caddesinde bulunan arkadaşım Ömer Sukas’ı ziyarete giderken bana Rize Spor Tarihi ile ilgili bilgiler veren Ayvazaga’nın arzuhal bürosunun yıkılmış olduğunu görüyor, irkiliyorum. Sorduğum da yapılan inşaat çalışmalarından dolayı yıkıldığını ve en kısa zamanda yapılacağını öğreniyorum. Bu süre içinde Recep Ali Ayvaz (AYVAZAGA ) sokakta bir şemsiye atında hizmet veriyor. Yanına gidiyorum. Ey gidinin Ayvazaga’si meşhur gülümsemesi ile karşılıyor bizi. Başlıyor gençmiş günleri anlatmaya Futbola yamalarla yapılan toplarla başladı Recep Ali Ayvaz 1931 yılında Rize’de doğdu. Rize Kavaklı Mahallesindendir. Babası Ali Rıza Ayvaz Rize’nin eski kabzımallarından ve kırk yıl Rize’de esnaflık yapan saygın bir şahsiyetti. Ali Rıza Ayvaz’ın yedi çocuğunu vardır ve Ayvazaga dördüncü çocuğudur. İlkokulu kurtuluş mektebinde okudu. Ortaokulu dışardan bitirdi. Futbol hayatına sokak aralarında yamalarla yaptıkları toplarla başladı. O zamanlar şimdiki gibi imkanlar, sahalar yoktu. Futbol maçları Yapı sanat enstitüsünün bahçesinde oynanırdı. Rize de o zamanlar Rize Gençlik, Çayeli, Güneşspor, Fener Gençlik takımları vardı. Güneşspor’un başkanı Şemsettin Çepni kendisinin bir maçını izledi ve onu Kulübe davet etti. Bu suretle Güneşspora dâhil oldu.

Giresun’da yıldızlaştı İlk maçını Rize karması ile gittiği Giresun’da oynadı. Maçta ilk golü Ayvaz attı ama Giresun’dan 2-1 yenik olarak Rize’ye döndüler. Bu maç Ayvazaga’yı Rize’de pöpüler yapmıştı. O zamanlar Rize karmasında İrfan Bilgin, Emir Ahmet Sağır, Akif Tuzca, Osman Kumbasar, Hüseyin Mataracı gibi isimler vardı. 1948 Rize’de mahalli lig başladı. Recep Ali Ayvaz takımın Güneşspor’un vazgeçilmez elemanı olmuş ve takımın en genç sporcusuydu. Ayvazaga o günleri anlatırken; O zamanlar maça çıkarlarken bir tabak yemek yerdik. Sahada gezemezdik. Top ağırdı. Topa kafa vurunca düşüp yerde kalırdık diyor. Merhaba Beykoz 1949 yılında İstanbulla gitti. Recep Ali Ayvaz İstanbul Beykoz’da Sokonu Vakum şirketinde işe başladı. Şirket benzin ve gaz yağı üzerine çalışıyordu. Mesai arkadaşları arasında İstanbul milli liginde yer alan Beykoz spor oyuncularında Saim, Hasan, Nusret bulunuyordu. Fabrikadan fırsat buldukça bu arkadaşlık Beykoz Çayırına uzanıyordu. Burada Beykozsporun yıldız futbolcularıyla birlikte top oynuyordu. Bir gün Beykozspor antrenörü Bahattin Olcayto onu izler ve kendisine hayran kalır ve hemen Beykozspor milli takımına dâhil eder. Rize Güneşspor’dan ilişiksiz kâğıdını aldırır. Beykozspor’da sergilediği futboluyla gönüllere taht kurar. Beykozspor Rize’de Beykozspor o dönemin en popüler takımlarındandır. İstanbul mahalle liginde rakiplerine kök söktürmektedir. Beykozspor bir gün özel bir maç için Trabzon’a gelir. Bunu duyan ve o sıralar Rize’de bulunan Recep Ali Ayvaz Trabzon’a gider ve Beykozspor’u Rize’ye davet eder. Beykozspor Rize’ye gelir, Rize karması ile bir maç yapar. Maçı Beykozspor 5-2 galip bitirir. Maçın ilk golünü Recep Ali Ayvaz atar. Rize karmasının ikinci golü Ayvazaga ve emektarlarRecep Ali Ayvaz ve onun gibi Rizespor Tarihine damgasını vurmuş isimler Hüsnü Kürkçü’nün jübile maçı öncesi bir gösteri maçı için bir araya gelmişlerdi.Ayaktakiler : Recep Ali Ayvaz, Nino Engin, Zafer Kanburoğlu, Laz Hasan, Erol Tombul,Refah Veziroğlu. Oturanlar: Ziya, Miraç, Gürbüz, Gırgır Ahmet ve Yakup KazdalO artık sarı kırmızılı Rize Güneşspor’un vazgeçilmez futbolcusudurRecep Ali Ayvaz 1953 yılında askere gider. Askerliği sürecince İzmir Karagücü takımında futbol oynar. Askerlik dönüşü tekrar Beykozspor takımına dahil olur. O sıralar beykozspor’un Türk futbolunun unutulmaz isimlerinden Rizeli, Şeref Gökay çalıştırmaktadır. Burada bir süre daha futbol oynadıktan sonra 1956 yılında Rize’ye döner. O artık sarı kırmızılı Rize Güneşspor’un vazgeçilmez futbolcusudur. Amatör milli takıma seçilir. Ankara da ve izmirde fuar kupası maçlarına iştirak eder. Burada takım arkadaşlarından biride Recep Ali Kulak’tır. Güneşspordan yetişen efsane sporculardan Şenol Birol ve Yavuz şimşekle aynı takımda oynamanın mutluluğuna erişir. Yavuz şimşek ğüneşsporun kalesini korurken ablası yapı sanat okulunda öğretmen olarak görev yapmaktadır. Recep Ali Ayvaz aynı okulda memur olarak bulunur. Recep Ali Ayvaz’ın kardeşi Musa Ayvaz’da Güneşspor ve Trabzon Yolsporda futbol oynamış Rize’nin yetiştirdiği nadir futbulculardandır.

RiZE is a small town at the foothills of the northeastern part of Turkey. It enjoys a status of being the capital of the Rize Province.

Geographical Location
Rize is situated on hills surrendering itself down to the sea. Rize is linked with Trabzon by road, which is 41 miles west and with Hopa, which is 55 miles East. The important cities of Rize include Trabzon, Gumushane, Bayburt, Erzurum and Artvin. Rize comprises 32 provinces with lovely bird watching spots. It ranges from an altitude of 0m to 3932m.

Climate
Rize enjoys and experiences a mild climate with sunny summers mild winters. As a result of this ideal type of climate Rize enjoys plentiful and prosperous natural vegetation.
Economical Status
The basic economical structure of Rize rests upon the processing and sea shipping of tea. Rize is well known for its Tea Research Institute, which was originally established in 1958. Rize greets you with miles of tea plantation. Throughout the year, Rize produces about one million raw tones of tea. Fishing is the second main occupation of the people of Rize.

History
Formerly Rize was known by the name of Rhizaeum during the reign of Procopius, Peri Ton Polemon, VIII and II. In 1923 the major Christian population of Rize left the town to settle down elsewhere. Irrespective of its size, Rize holds a significant position as the major tea producing, processing and packing center in Turkey.

Around 370,000 inhabitants have made this significant town of Turkey their domain. Most of the people of Rize are adventurous and they are tremendously enthusiastic about sea-based

activities.

If you want to reach Trabzon (70 km west) and Erzurum (300 km south) you have to travel by road from Rize. Moreover, you can reach Istanbul from Rize by ship. The city is wonderfully situated at the heart of the tea plantations covering the whole mountainous region. If you stand at the Ziraat Park of the city you will surely be fascinated to have a picturesque view of the stupendous natural beauty and exuberance of the entire region. The summer tea festival of Rize surely gives an opportunity to taste the best blend of tea and the rare and famous Anzer honey usually obtained from the mountainous regions of the land. One of the things you should never forget in Rize is to purchase light summer garments known by the name of city “Rize-Bezi”. You will also get to have a glimpse of the 16th Century Islam Pasha Mosque and the wild remains of the Genoese Castle. Rize is one of the favorite camping grounds for tourists by the side of the lovely Alpine Lake amidst enchanting mountains and meadows. The trekkers heading towards the Kackar Mountain start their journey from the little town of Camlihemsin However, if you desire to spend most of your time in the lap of the nature then your journey should obviously include Firtina Vadisi, the Storm Valley with its fine-looking castle and Zirkale and the bridges of Byzantine Empire.

Ecological Features
Rize remains green in every season, as it is the major and most significant producer of tea in the whole of Turkey. Other than tea, Rize is also notable for the growth of a wide variety of citrus fruits. Recently, the tropical kiwi and avocado plantations have also been given very fruitful and positive results.

Surrounded with a rich natural texture, Rize offers many attractions for visitors.

Thermal Resorts
The Andon mineral water spring is located 20 km from Rize and is a center of attraction and interest for the local inhabitants of the town. In addition to this the mineral spring waters of Ikizdere – Simsirli mineral water and Cayirli Mineral water are believed to have the clinical powers.

Waterfalls
The Agaran Waterfall is the only waterfall in Rize, which is fantastically located on the Sairler creek flowing through Cayeli District. There is no doubt about the fact that the Agaran Waterfall is really a stupendous natural wonder.

Highlands
The main highland plateaus of Rize are located at the edge of the Kackar Chain Mountains, at the Camlihemsin Hemsin and Ikizdere Districts. These highlands are special tourism centers where you are sure to enjoy the pleasure of dwelling beyond the clouds.

Preserved Areas
The Kackar Mountain National Park is one of the major and most significant preserved areas in Rize.

Ornithology Areas
The Eastern Black Sea Mountains have been considered as one of the major ornithology areas of Rize.

Museums in Rize
In the Ataturk Museum in Rize you get to see some of the individual and private belongings of Ataturk. In association with this, certain ethnographic works excavated from several places of the town are prestigiously exhibited in the Mehmet Mataraci Mansion.
